Is LLLT safe for use following hair transplant surgery? 2015-08-26T09:47:46+00:00

The scalp is very sensitive following hair transplant surgery and so it is incredibly important that any device used does not directly touch the scalp, so that it does not damage the transplant. It is important that the device deliver LLLT to the whole scalp, and currently the iGrow is the only device to deliver LLLT to the whole scalp with no direct contact.

Shouldn’t I just get hair loss treatment from a doctor? 2017-03-30T22:24:01+00:00

iGrow is an incredibly powerful LLLT treatment for use at home and is equivalent in terms of output and power to most physician-administered lasers. Additionally, the design of the iGrow’s helmet and headphone maintains a constant distance of 3cm from the scalp (clinical lasers are typically 6-8cm). The device is also portable, which means that you can use it on the move, at home or even at the office, and you can even listen to music and other audio whilst using it. It is far more convenient and much more cost efficient administering your own treatment at home than going to a doctor’s office three to four times per week.

There are other handheld laser treatment devices. Why should I choose the iGrow? 2015-08-26T10:00:09+00:00

The iGrow system is completely hands-free, provides coverage for the entire scalp whilst focussing on key hair loss areas, and is very simple to use. Compared to other handheld devices, such as laser combs that need to be manually manipulated every 4-20 seconds, the iGrow is much more efficient, the laser light dwell time on the scalp is substantially increased for better results and very simple and easy to use.

My hair loss is very severe and I am bald. Can I still use the iGrow? 2015-08-26T10:00:40+00:00

How does LLLT work? 2015-08-26T10:44:25+00:00

LLLT, or low level laser therapy, uses light (LEDs), Lasers or a combination of the two at a very low energy, within a set wavelength, in order to treat specific problems. The lasers used in LLLT are also called “cold” lasers. Studies have demonstrated that it can treat everything from acne to carpal tunnel to hair loss in both women and men. Although we do not yet fully understand the mechanism behind how LLLT works, it is believed that the light energy from the Laser/LEDs is absorbed by cells, which triggers a healing response and boosts activity within said cells. In treating hair loss, LLLT is said to increase regrowth by 35-37%.

How does LLT work? 2013-09-30T07:51:14+00:00

Multiple clinical studies have shown the effectiveness of Low Level Laser Therapy on various conditions including hair loss in men and women, carpal tunnel syndrome and acne. The exact mechanism is not fully understood, but the most recent research has identified that LLLT is absorbed into the cells, triggering enhanced cellular activity. In other words, LLLT makes aging cells more active, thereby increasing their effectiveness in hair restoration. Recent clinical trials have shown a 35% to 40% growth of new hair.

How long has LLLT been used for hair re-growth? 2015-08-26T10:45:26+00:00

LLLT for Hair growth was first discovered in 1967 by a Hungarian Scientist whilst using LLLT for a different medical purpose.

Is there any clinical data to support LLLT? 2015-08-26T10:45:58+00:00

Yes. There have been multiple clinical studies to support the effectiveness of LLLT in preventing hair loss and promoting hair re-growth in both women and men.

Why are Lasers and LEDs used together in one device? 2017-03-30T22:24:07+00:00

Lasers are used because they are produced at one specific wavelength, stimulating and energizing hair follicles and promoting growth. LEDs have a broader wavelength of light and are gentler, covering a larger area, which means that they’re ideal for use on large areas such as the scalp. Devices that combine both are particularly suitable for hair regrowth.

Is LLLT physician advised? 2015-08-26T10:48:16+00:00

Dermatologists and hair physicians in the US and Europe endorse the use of LLLT Devices for the treatment of hair loss and to re-grow hair.

Which wavelength is used during LLLT? 2015-08-26T10:49:12+00:00

Wavelength is important during LLLT. The wavelength used in iGrow is 655nm, as this is most effective and efficient in terms of absorption of energy for hair re-growth.

Do all at-home devices use both Lasers and LEDs? 2015-08-26T10:50:15+00:00

Most at-home devices use either lasers or LEDs. iGrow uses both high quality Lasers and LEDs. This particular form of LLLT, using this combination of both Laser and LED and energy sources, is known to be particularly effective at treating hair loss.

Do all at-home devices provide similar results? 2015-08-26T10:51:06+00:00

No. Some devices have a greater power output and will therefore yield differing results. If the device is not powerful enough, it will not properly stimulate the hair follicles and will not promote hair regrowth. Many at-home devices are handheld and manually operated, and use Lasers or LEDs, not both. Laser combs and brushes do not cover the whole scalp and rely entirely on the user to provide any kind of consistent application, which means that it is unlikely that they will be able to yield consistent long term significant results. In comparison, the iGrow hands free, is fully automated and the helmet keeps the lasers at a required fixed distance from the scalp, which means that the light energy is consistently applied to all areas of the scalp throughout the full duration of the treatment.

Some LLLT devices use pulsed energy and some use continuous wave energy. Which is better? 2015-08-26T10:51:49+00:00

The effectiveness of LLLT treatment is based on the bio stimulation of cells to energise hair follicles, promoting regrowth. Research suggests that “pulsing” light can be more effective at promoting re-growth as it mimics cellular respiration. Generally, LLLT devices therefore use pulsed light, rather than continuous wave energy to ensure maximum results.

Can LLLT be used alongside medications such as Propecia™ or Regaine™? 2015-08-26T10:53:11+00:00

Yes, although it is not necessary to use LLLT alongside medication for hair loss in order to regrow hair. With the 10 year expected life of the iGrow device and a purchase price of £595, this results in it costing only £1.15 per week to treat, prevent hair loss and to re-grow more hair. iGrow does not need the help of alternative products to treat hair loss.
